Our Story

How It All Began

For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamed of living a self-sustainable farming life—one where I could be in harmony with nature and embrace a simpler, more fulfilling way of living. Though I grew up and spent most of my life in New Jersey, that dream never faded. I longed to leave the fast-paced life behind and reconnect with the land.

In 2021, after much planning and many hard decisions, my family and I sold everything we owned and moved to Costa Rica. Leaving behind the comfort of our home, our friends, and family in the U.S. was one of the most difficult things we’ve ever done, but it was also the most rewarding. We traded in our beautiful, comfortable life to follow my dream and build something extraordinary.

The Journey So Far

When we first arrived, we faced countless challenges—learning farming, adapting to the environment, and working tirelessly to transform a wild piece of land into the thriving farm we have today. But with every obstacle, we grew stronger, more resourceful, and more connected to the land.

Turns out, caterpillar tunnels and high winds don’t mix. Lesson learned-the hard way!

Today, Cloudberry Heights stands as a testament to years of hard work, passion, and resilience. Our farm produces organic blackberries and artisanal wines while being a heaven for wildlife. Bees, hummingbirds, rabbits, and other wild animals roam freely here, playing an essential role in maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Visitors to our farm can enjoy the vibrant berry fields, take in the breathtaking mountain views, or have a peaceful picnic surrounded by nature—all completely free. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we cherish the fruits of our labor every day.

Our Vision For The Future

The journey doesn’t stop here. At Cloudberry Heights, we’re constantly evolving, always finding new ways to grow while staying true to our values. We envision creating a paradise where nature and winemaking coexist in perfect harmony—a place where people can visit to experience the beauty of sustainable living firsthand.

Our future plans include expanding into other local fruit fields for new wine flavors as well we plan on building a few unique one of a kind cottages with specific themes for visitors to stay on the farm. Each cottage will offer a private space with a cozy fireplace, a wood-fired sauna, and a lush garden filled with local flowers that attract birds and wildlife. These cottages will provide guests with a peaceful retreat to explore the farm, learn about wine-making, many other farming activities, and enjoy the serene beauty of Costa Rica’s high-altitude landscapes. But Cloudberry Heights is more than a farm—it’s a canvas for creativity. We believe this is a magical place where nature, hard work, and inspiration meet, and we dream of making it a haven for art as well. In the future “2026”, we plan to invite artists at heart—not just professionals, but anyone who feels a calling to express themselves—to leave their mark on our land through various creative projects. Whether it’s painting, sculpting, or creating something entirely new, we want Cloudberry Heights to become a living, harmonious art piece that celebrates love, inspiration, and the beauty of human expression.
